Benefits of Powder Coating: Powder coating is generally accepted as a more durable finish compared to a liquid finish. However, powder coatings true advantage is in flexibility.
Powder has the ability to be formulated to fit the specific needs of your product. Be it hardness, flexibility, durability, or corrosive protection.
Any of these characteristics can be formulated to achieve your coating needs. |

WHY USE POWDER COATING? It has an excellent finish including resistance to corrosion, heat, impact, abrasion and fading from sunlight and extreme weather. You can have it in almost any color or finish, such as high or low gloss. Same with the texture – need it rough, we’ll do it. Need it smooth? Sure thing. Think about your appliances. Chances are something you own has been powder coated. For the automotive industry, the applications are boundless from decorative trim to even anti-chip coating on hoods.
WHAT CAN BE POWDER COATED? Anything that can withstand 400 degree heat.
IS POWDER COATING ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY? It contains no solvents. Emits negligible, if any, polluting volatile organic compounds (VOC) into the atmosphere. It is a safer and cleaner alternative since exhaust air from the coating booth can be returned to the coating room and less oven air is exhausted to the outside. It has lower unit costs because parts can be racked closer together on a conveyor and pass more quickly through a production line. Waste can be disposed of easily and economically.
IS POWDER COATING DURABLE?
Powder coatings resist cracking and peeling and are extremely abrasion, corrosion and chemical resistant. The performance characteristics of powder coating match or exceed the characteristics achieved from conventional solvent-based coatings.
WHAT ABOUT AREAS THAT NEED TO BE FREE FROM COATING?
High temperature masking can be applied to special surfaces such as threads or high tolerance areas to keep them from being coated. We also use high temperature silicon plugs for threaded holes or shafts.
WHAT IS CLEAR POWDER COATING?
Clear powder coating serves the same purpose as clear coat wet paint. It protects the underlying finish and adds depth and luster to the surface. Clear powder coat is applied as a second coat and shot while the piece is still hot. Then the piece is returned to the oven for a second curing process. Use clear powder coating on any piece that is exposure to elements which could cause it to fade or be subject to damage.
WHAT IS THE HISTORY OF POWDER COATING? Since its introduction in North America almost 40 years ago, powder coating has become the fastest growing finishing technology, currently representing over 10 percent of the total finishing market. More and more manufacturers for countless products have switched from liquid finishing to powder coating as a way to produce a high quality and durable finish while maximizing production, cutting costs, improving efficiency, and complying with increasingly stringent environmental regulations. |
